New essay title
Searching for Solitude: The Art of Introversion
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using the session to dissect my essay and create a map of understanding was hugely beneficial to me, and helped me realize the direction in which I want to steer my subject.
After some reflection, I decided that my original essay focus - the rise of extroversion in the Western world - was growing into something that I didn't want it to. My research was forcing me look globally at my topic, and I was finding myself focusing increasingly on negatives: the takeover by social media, the global of the domination of the world wide web, etc. Although I may agree with a lot of arguments about the domination of these platforms, and the mindless, zombie-like generation they are creating, I decided that I wouldn't want to read an essay about that, and why would anyone else? Also, slagging off the internet is such a well trodden path, I decided to adopt a fresher and more celebratory approach to what has the potential to be a fascinating and unique study; thus, my study was born anew, in a more optimistic, celebratory form.
This will not be a study that seeks to condemn behavioral patterns of extroverted-personality types, rather one that champions introversion and the quest for solitude as a means of creative fuel.
